Call to action - Read

Making this image was fun! I found the image from http://t1na.deviantart.com/art/Book-of-imagination-461215989 and, after realizing that black text just wouldn't work on this image, I changed the text to white. The font is Century and I chose it because I think of text in a book when I look at the lettering. It's very classic, which I think juxtaposes nicely against the backdrop of such an imaginative and unusual image. This shows the power that simple words have to ignite our imaginations and give us a fresh view on our lives. I hope that someone seeing this image wants to read!

Integrity - Call to Action

I wanted to emphasize the words that I thought were most important in this quotation. I wanted to inspire others to have integrity and make right decision. I think it is important to note that even though things won't turn out perfectly, they will be ok, and that's what I wanted to show in this typography. I like the blue ombre in the background shows tranquility and adds to the message of the quote.

Call to Action

I replaced a globe she was holding with this image of a flaming world. Then I played with fonts sizes, typefaces, weights, leading, and colors to get the result above. (The Go Green was a logo already created online, but you can track the path and use the font layer to cut the shape out below).  

Climb Mountains

Let me preface by saying that I'm awful at Photoshop and all of that, despite watching those videos.
I took the climb and I staggered it around the ridge of the mountain, to signify the journey. I wanted it to be white, like the mountain. The word mountain itself is coming up behind the mountain, like a sunrise. I wanted it to be yellow to pop, with bold letters. I liked hiding it behind the mountain, almost to give it a hidden or coming-soon feeling to it. Mountains are adventurous and full of surprises. The man is looking at these two words, particularly 'climb' as if looking forward to it.

Typography

Maybe because I have had General Conference on the mind, I wanted to do a call to action that had to do with the Church. I began by writing down phrases of calls to action that I could use and the one that stuck out the most to me was this one simple word. I began doodling with it and noticed that if the letters were manipulated, the word itself could look like a figure praying. To make this happen I had to reduce the spacing between the letters and of course turn them in a vertical line rather than the typical horizontal line. I also had to flip the letter Y to make it look as though the were the legs of the stick figure in a kneeling position. In addition, I didn't like the font of the letter a, but I liked the font look of the rest of the letters, so I picked a similar font just for the a itself. I hope people can see it the way I see it. The P is the head, the R are the hands, the A the torso and of course, the Y the legs.

Typographic Manipulations

I kept the words "maximize" and "minimize" a neutral size, then enlarged "EDUCATION" and capitalized it to communicate that it's maximized.  I did just the opposite with the word "debt" to communicate that it should be minimized.

Call to Action: Daily Exercise

Our bodies are really one of the greatest gifts God has given to us. So my call to action is exercise; take care of your body. Give your body the sustainability and energy it needs EVERY DAY to function and live a happy and healthy life. I outlined the word care in pink because pink represents care, love, and compassion. This color is generally associated with giving and receiving care, so I felt that since our bodies deserve the love and care of exercise, it was a fitting choice. I also used a larger font and the color red on the word "only" to stress the importance of having just one body. Red, among many others, can symbolize action, determination. I also used red to show a sense of urgency, almost as a signal or warning; we only have one body, so if we don't exercise, we will cause serious consequences to our health and overall wellbeing. The word "Have" was put in black and placed under the lady's hand to show that no matter how hard she might be pushing, we absolutely have to live in the body we were given. For the words "body" and "LIVE", I used a general skin tone color to represent the largest oran in the body. I also enlarged the font for the word "LIVE" in order to emphasize the importance and direct correlation of life and taking care of our bodies; taking care of our bodies results in our direct ability to function and live life.
