Working 40 hours a week and being a full time student, BYU junior Chase Hessing keeps moving all day, every day. As stake activities co-chair and also a member of the 18th Stake Basketball team, The Unicorns, basketball is one of the only outlets to release stress. Basketball not only serves as a form of escapism for the 25 year-old, but is a way to bond with his ward members, room-mates, and friends, while continuing to keep his body healthy.
This collection of photographs reveals the array of emotions during a basketball game. Much like Chase's life, which has it's ups and downs, basketball has moments of joy, pain, anxiety, and disappointment. These series of black and white images reveal the raw emotion throughout the game, and particularly exhibit Chase's reactions throughout his 40 minute escape into basketball.
