Mexican Americans

The single story of Mexican americans is riddled with stereo types and false hoods about how they came into the USA. When I googled Mexican americans, it came up with this cheech and chong song that they sang in one of their movies talking about they way they act. Cheech calls them lazy, and get into gang flights, and pretty much any other stereotype that you can think of. He talks about how they are named and how they go to school only to take spanish. When searching Mexican americans, a little way down the list there are quite a few comics about them getting over the border illegally. One of the top stories I found was about how one recently died in a detention center at the border. This is the majority of the single story that us as americans are hearing in the last couple years.

This single story is how they are presented and there is nothing that we can do to change this image because as far as I can remember this is how they have always been presented to me and most of america. When I think of mexican's, I think of the classic guy in a poncho with a mustache and a sombrero, just like the picture we have above. It is sad that this is how they are portrayed and that there is very little we can do to change this image.
