At first glance we see a lego blocks and a shadow of a dinosaur. A green solid background with the lego logo in the corner. No words. Just a visual. The yellow lego block is simply built, only five blocks are used. This advertisement for lego is one of the best examples of semiotics in my opinion, mostly because of what lego was able to say so clearly with out saying anything. They let the visual speak for itself, which is something I have tried to do many times. Not as easily communicated however, it takes serious creative brainstorming to come up with an idea like this.
What this visual is really saying in my opinion is that lego promotes imagination, not only that, when your kid says look what I made and it really looks like a bunch of random legos stuck together, lego knows it's actually a dinosaur. Not only does it know, it allows kids to think outside the box and use their imagination, legos can become anything you want them to. Legos help kids imaginations come to life. It is so bold of a brand to say, we understand your child. I love that they took that step to do so and did it in a way that not only speaks to the adult but also speaks to a child if they were to see this ad they might go home and think of what they could create out of legos. It doesn't take skill to build with legos, it just takes an eager imagination.
