Just up a little past the Sundance Ski Resort, starting in Aspen Grove, there is a beautiful mountain range hike called Timpanogos. It is the second highest mountain in Utah's Wasatch Range and it is one of Utah's most popular hiking and climbing destinations year round. Each weekend there are groups of people (typically young single adults) who leave their warm beds in the middle of the night just early enough to make the 7 mile hike up to beat the sun. Instead of letting the sun rise them, they rise the sun. I hiked the 14 mile roundtrip hike this past weekend and we started at 1:30 AM and finished at about 10:30 AM. It was quite exhausting; and not to mention freezing while reaching the top, but I definitely learned how to endure. It was kind of hard to get the pictures that I wanted in the dark, but I definitely took a ton as soon as the sun came out! I chose the pictures that I think best describe my experience as well as any other "sunriser" that has hiked timp. I hope these inspire you to hit the trail!
When you hit the very top, there is cute little kiosk looking thing that many people will sign to show that they made it. They also go inside and huddle/cuddle to stay warm.
There they sat and called for the sun.
7 miles of uphill rise next to the beautiful mountain range.
Hiking requires proper planning.
With the heat and exhaustion of the hike, you need lots of water.
Some adventurers ran a little low and decided to fill up using the natural resource of the water fall.
And then finally, the moment that we had all been anticipating!
The beautiful sunrise!
If you look closely in the picture, you can see that the moon still remains on the left hand side.
