Typography

For my call to action, I used the statement "Get Out & Set Sail". It incorporates an image of a ship trapped in a bottle to first capture the idea that the reader is currently like the ship and needs to make a change in their because they are stagnant. This image is placed in the left hand side of this long banner-shaped poster, which invokes the Gestalt Principle of Continuity and leads the reader to the text which is to the right of the image. The text has three lines, which the reader reads from top to bottom because we are more naturally inclined to let our eyes fall across an image from top to bottom rather than from bottom to top. The first line, "Get Out", is using a font that is bold, block-shaped, and capitalized. This was done to capture the emotions of power and determination. These feelings are essential in breaking free from a prison, a bottle, or any type of rut that the individual may be experiencing in their lives. The "&" is simple because it is just used to connect the other two lines. The bottom line, "Set Sail", is italicized and written in a font that is more fluid and creative in its nature. It is meant to invoke the creative and endless possibilities that are available upon breaking free and moving forward to uncharted territories. The background is meant to capture a similar idea. It has a feel that reminds me of both notebook parchment where creative ideas can be written down, as well as the open sea where the ship can set sail.
