The above is a wikipedia article excerpt. The line that says "while at the same time" makes the LDS church sound two-faced. Wikipedia is often one of the first places people go for information as it seems to pop up high in google search.
In regard to the church's new policies and statements about homosexual activity, many people said they were disappointed in, and publicly made known that they are angry at the church, saying things like they couldn't believe in a religion where Christ said that all were equal and yet discriminated against gays. Here is just one of many examples of those who believe the church is two-faced.
But let's look for a minute at just one of many things that has been said by the church. Here are some excerpts from Elder Rasband in a recent BYU Devotional.
SOME THOUGHTS FROM A MEMBER OF THE LDS CHURCH
There is a difference between being prejudiced against and making a simple statement of doctrine.
- Absolute truth. The world doesn’t want it to exist, but it does.
- Newsflash: It’s not our church. We are only members. It’s Jesus Christ’s church.
- Some people in the church don’t behave like Jesus Christ taught them to behave.
- Nehor: Said everyone was saved...everything goes. If everything goes, then nothing goes. No progression. Nothing to push against if there are no boundaries. No friction.
- Latter-Day Saints: We would hope that everyone could act like a saint all the time, but they just don’t.
How is this single storied approach limiting?
People are depriving themselves of the blessings of the gospel by distancing themselves from what will make them truly happy. They can keep protesting, but they are not gaining anything from being angry at the church.
Interesting analysis. My only suggestion would be to have a more artifacts from different mediums-news, magazine articles, etc to support your point
