Balance
There are multiple types of balance to this photo. Color was my main focus. Everything else in the photo is a muted beige/gold except for the cactus. Green pulls the red tones from the beige which is pleasing to the eye. The location of the cactus is also a key point of balance in this photo. It isn't directly on the intersecting line of thirds, but it is out of the center which provides balance.

Perspective
Crocheted pillows. The slightly smell like dust and the yarn isn't as soft as it once was, but these gems were made by my grandmother which makes them even more beautiful than any other antique. I could have take a photo of these pillows from above, but I wanted to emphasize the handy work, I wanted to bring attention to the now-rough yarn, and these pieces of art deserved a close up.

This woman doesn't go anywhere without a fresh coat of purple lipstick. It is easy to see the subject of this image because of the placement and focal length of the lens. Her lipstick is on the line of thirds, her arm draws your eye up to her lips, and the simple background keeps your attention on the motion of the picture.
