Downtown Provo - Perception

Looking vs. Seeing

My wife and I love Downtown Provo. If someone had asked us if we knew Downtown Provo well, we would have responded quickly and proudly in the affirmative. However, after walking around, looking, we realized that we weren't nearly as familiar as we thought we were. We noticed statues, streets signs, graffiti, among other things, that were meaningful all in their own right. We found ourselves saying things like "this was NOT here before" or "how have I never seen this?". We talked about how there are probably things all around our daily lives that we neglect to pay attention to. Yes, we may be seeing them, but we definitely are not looking for them. Here in Provo, we live at the skirts of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, but I often go days without consciously looking at the grandeur of the peaks. With this fresh perspective, we will be looking for the things that often go unseen.

Who wouldn't want to dunk on this 4' hoop while looking at the new temple.

No roller skating, skateboarding, or bicycling on the streets of Downtown Provo. Also, no trucks.

No need to go to Squaw Peak when you can take your girl to the Kissing Point in Downtown Provo.

If this doesn't inspire you to get Take-Out from Guru's, what would inspire you?

Even the Feds want a building in Downtown Provo.

  1. That question, "Was this here before?" is something I ask myself a lot when trying to look at things with a new perspective.
