Discovering Downtown Provo

This was my first time going to downtown Provo and appreciating all the different details on the historic and modern buildings alike. While crossing the street, I noticed how much attention was put into something as simple as the crosswalks. The post with the button to cross the street had a rustic feel and interesting ornamentation. The crosswalk itself was painted to have the appearance of being brick. It would have been much easier to install simple poles and paint white lines, but the city of Provo took care to make the small details reflect the atmosphere of class and style that downtown Provo emits. I've always admired the dolphin mural on the side of Hookah Collection, but upon further inspection, I noticed the stained glass windows with instruments. It is believed that the building was once used as music store/studio. There is all kinds of statues along Center Street, some reflecting the history of Provo, and others with a more modern style. The B & H Pharmacy is a beautiful example of historic Provo with its bright, retro colors and nostalgic illustrations. Downtown Provo is a unique area of the city that reflects all times and eras of Provo. By recognizing the details, I've come to appreciate and understand the effort that's gone into making all aspects of the area aesthetically appealing.
