I focused on changing the tint, shade, and tone of the color blue for this picture. Then I wanted to compliment the blues, so I added an orange fish since orange is straight across from blue on the color wheel and compliments it the best.
The two Gestalt principles I used were proximity and similarity for this very simple figure. The squares share similar characteristics so they perceived as belonging together. They are also grouped together which makes it look like one unit.
