I've lived in Provo for the past two years, but I went home each summer. Although I frequent Downtown Provo often, there were a lot of new places since April that I had either never seen (since my being here in April), or never noticed.
In all my years in Provo, I have never attended a Rooftop Concert. It's just not my scene. However, a double date in Downtown Provo just happened to coincide with the Kaskade Concert. That was definitely new for me. I saw a Provo that I have never seen. It was a wild party! Nighlife in Provo is pretty sparse, but I felt like I was back in Chicago the night of the Rooftop Concert. The rest of the images are new additions to Provo. One is literally a construction site next to one of my favorite restaurants (El Salvadorian). I don't remember there ever being a neon sign for a pharmacy or a sewing/textiles shop. The final photo is a large, empty space. It wasn't being used for anything. It actually caught me off guard that it was so empty. This is a space I hope will be better utilized. It reminded me that there's still room to grow, innovate, and create in Downtown Provo. This trip helped me realize that Provo is not as static as I previously believed. It's changing, growing, transforming, much like any other town. I assumed, given its unique demographics, that Provo would be stagnant. I'm happy to be proved wrong.
