Saturday was a special day indeed. I was standing on the field of LaVell Edwards Stadium, taking high-fives from the coaches and players, and baking in the September sun. Then, with a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder, we were ushered off the field to wait for the storm to pass. Twice in a row, the Cougars had a rain delay. Minutes turned into hours and my footlong hot dog and "cougar tail" maple bar were long gone. Desperate for entertainment, I unscrewed the cap from my empty Sprite bottle, instructed my buddy to do likewise with his root beer cap, and the games began!
We sent our floating caps across a huge puddle under the South West stands, competing to see who could give their cap just the right push to make it to the other end in the least amount of time. Upon further reflection, and after losing three times in a row, I'd assume a higher stance if I had to try it again.
