U N X P C T D

THE outcome of my project was unexpected. I began my search for "accidental" art, expecting to find something bright, wild, or quirky. Instead, I was drawn to the muted and the ordinary. I noticed textures, patterns, and textiles that I have never taken in. The things that stood out to me are overlooked every single day, by most of us, but I was moved by the beauty of their simplicity. This project reminds me to see and appreciate the little things. Art is everywhere; it is unexpected.

  1. This is so cool. I love how you put it into filters to make it even more 'unexpected'. I haven't seen anything else like it and I think it's super creative. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I like this because I'm curious about what the images looked like before you turned them into letters. It's obvious what some of them are (rocks, a tree, bricks), but I like that it's much harder to tell what the U, N, X and D are.

  3. I like how you organized such simple things into an actual work of art. The spelled-out abbreviations of the word "unexpected" also had a unique factor to it.

  4. I really enjoy the way you made this accidental art into something that wasn't accidental at all. Using the patterns and pictures you found in nature and mixing them with a letter graphic is a really unique approach to art. It's not only something that is cool because it was made to be cool, but because it is so natural.

  5. I really like that you were able to take something we see everyday and transform it into a creative project! I think it is through the most simple, little things that great things come from! It's not something I had seen before, so I really like it!

  7. Maybe put up some photos of what you saw and show us so we can understand what you continue to overlook

  8. Cool concept! Especially cutting out the Es. I like how the photos themselves are pretty generic everyday shots put together in a clever manner. I hope you're in advertising!

  9. This is awesome! Most people found art in objects or nature, so I loved that you found art within those objects and within nature. You saw the beauty of the fine lines that not many others see.

  10. Really cool interpretation of accidental art. It is so true that there are things all around us each and every day that we do not recognize or notice. Good reminder to stop and take time to take in the simple things of this world.

  13. Cool. True, we don't really have to go outside and seek for the accidental arts as those arts are everywhere. They can be just nearby us. And your "unexpected" filer was brilliant!

  14. I love how you went the extra mile you just didn't take pictures of different things and their texture. You took those picture and create something interesting. After all, for me thats creativity taking things that already exist and transform them.

  15. Very original idea. When looking for artistic ideas it's the simple things that always get me, too. The big ornate traditionally beautiful things are amazing, no doubt, but there's something about finding beauty in the everyday things that can't be compared.

  16. What a cool idea. I love all the backgrounds and how the complement and contrast each other. Your true artistic skill was portrayed through your simple, yet creative approach to the world around you.

  17. I find myself also noticing the muted and ordinary. Sometimes the bright, loud, and obvious things are not what really catch our eye, the things that catch our eye are the ones that we actually have to put effort into finding.

  18. Nice job making the ordinary say what you wanted. I find those textures and patterns artistic in the format you presented. Great job.
