Melting in the rain (Accidental Art)

I found this stick on a driveway, hopefully nobody was home to be creeped out by me photographing stuff on their property. Regardless, it wasn't the stick that attracted my eye but the colors running off of it.
The picture is sideways, so the driveway slopes to the right. You can see that the rain the past week (or maybe longer, I don't know how long the stick has been there) has been picking up an orange color running off the stick and it has stained to cement flowing down.
The image struck me as tragic, as if the stick itself were simply melting away in the rain, leaving nothing but a ghost of itself in a stain against the concrete.

  1. This is weird. But I like it! It's awesome that you noticed this. I've never seen a stick melt away like this before... Acid rain? Climate change? Al Gore save us!

  2. I think this is pretty cool Aaron. Well thought out and shows that you were pretty observant. I must have been hanging there for a long time for colors to bleed off. I like it.

  3. Nice post. I like how you are showing the passage of time, yet that time isn't able to be quantified or defined.
