Finding a Way to Do It All

Being from Salt Lake, I am able to go home often. I love driving so I have no problem with the 40+ minutes it takes to get home.  Because I enjoy the drive I’m much more likely to run home for like an hour and come back down to Provo.  Most people think I’m crazy, that I’m wasting my time.  I beg to differ.  It can be a hassle to make time for the commute, especially if I have something going on in Provo soon after or right before.   This is where I get creative.  On Saturday, for example, there was a BYU football game that I really wanted to go to.  I also had a wedding dinner for my cousin in Salt Lake in the middle of the game.  Rather than choose between these two activities, I decided I’d make it to both.  Knowing the amount of time it would take to get there and back, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes in total, I parked my car in an ideal location before the game, ended up leaving a little earlier than expected after getting drenched (I had to take some time to change and dry off) but made it to the dinner with time to spare.  I had an awesome time with my family and ate an incredible meal, even had time to chat with the bride and groom.  Once things started to die down I got back on the road and made it to the end of the game to see BYU’s big win.  It was a really great night and I think it was totally worth the commute.
