The Craziness of the World (Accidental Art)

So for this assignment I started to wonder what exactly I could find around me as I walked around that would constitute art. I soon learned that there is actually a lot of hidden art and stories in the things around us. Most of these things are unintentional but they are there for a reason. As I was walking by alongside a building I couldn't help but notice a bunch of black dots all grouped together. It looked to me like an explosion had gone off, with the twigs and sticks underneath it being what was left. Of course both the twigs and the dots are unrelated but when combined they formed a story in my mind.

The next thing that drew my attention was the many black lines of tar in one section of road.  Obviously they were put there for a reason, but it was interesting to note that these lines immediately stopped when they reached the next road.  In general it almost looks like a maze that you would want to start on.  I also like how it sort of became symmetrical the farther along you went with no lines in the middle of the road.  It was funny to think of how these lines all came to be and why the road wasn't redone in the first place. This assignment definitely helped me realize that there is art all around us and each with its own unique story.

  1. I'm regularly surprised by how foreign the most familiar places can seem by simply directing my eyes to things I normally neglect to notice.
