Goodbye Art (Accidental)

Thinking more about Phil Hansen's "Goodbye Art" project, I felt inspired to find things on campus today that weren't going to last. My accidental art? Shadows. We walk past them every day. Every hour there is a new kind of art. From two students walking to class to my hand shadow from the JSB auditorium lights on my notes, there is something secretive in capturing the shadow art, knowing it won't be that way again. The wild card photo of the footprint was one single footprint left from a puddle- there was no track or trail of prints. By looking up and around and using the natural light, even the simplest of sidewalks or a plain tree becomes something more.

  1. I love your focus on shadows! For me, often when I think of art I think of the object in focus itself, not necessarily the shadow, the residue, or remains of an afterward scene. Thanks for increasing my perspective on art and creativity!

  2. This is a pretty interesting observation. It makes me think of the art you could intentionally do with shadow. Cool post.

  3. I really like how you used shadows. The video left a similar impression on me. I love the idea that these are pictures that can never be replicated exactly again. Thanks for sharing.
