The Trees Have Eyes (Accidental Art)
As I ventured out on my peaceful nighttime walk, I found myself alone, by this simple, ordinary tree. I noticed that there were not many cars on the streets around me and nobody else was walking on the sidewalk by me. Suddenly, my perspective of this tree changed. As this sense of loneliness and abandonment came over me, this ordinary tree came became a person, a person who was watching me.
Any other day, I would walk past this tree and not notice anything unique about it. But tonight, it became alive. The first thing I noticed about it was the top marking out of the three, which I thought looked like an eyeball staring deep down into my soul. It made me question: what if all trees really had eyes and have been watching us humans all along? Although it is a plain looking tree, I saw it as art, because it had these special markings which gave this tree a sense of identity and character.

Maybe you're onto something. Maybe tree's DO have eyes, and they're supposed to go undetected, but that one slipped up because it knew it had to tell you something! Just sayin...
ReplyDeleteI really like your take on this. It's amazing how your perspective can change when you simply look at your surroundings with a different mind
ReplyDeleteHey Courtney, it's interesting you wouldn't have noticed this any other day, but because you were looking for it, you saw something different. I think I had a similar experience, and I see new things everyday now that I look around me. I don't think I've seen anything this cool though. Great job
ReplyDeleteSometimes the most common things in nature have such unique features. This is cool how you noticed such a unique and simple thing.
ReplyDeleteI often see these trees and see the different "eyes" that they have and am lead to look around in natural and see what other accidental shapes are made. I like how you said it gives it an identity. It makes it unique
ReplyDeleteNature can be a huge inspiration for art. Good eye.
