Let’s get to the point.  I’m not a fan of science.  I’m less of a fan of taking Physical Science 100 with a bunch of freshman.  I’m even less of a fan of reading a Physical Science 100 textbook.  So when I sat down to read my science textbook this week, a thought popped into my head.  “How can I be creative and make this a half-way enjoyable experience?”  I went through all the reading skills I’ve ever learned and none of them really seemed enjoyable.  Then suddenly I knew what I needed to do:  draw pictures and write poems.  It was brilliant.  I’m a kinesthetic learner, so taking the time to draw pictures made the concepts more memorable.  The poems forced me to think about the concepts for more than a second.  Plus, I made some super cool (not really) metaphors.  Sometimes making science enjoyable takes some creativity.
