A Gestalt Mosaic

Get Artistic!

I was flipping through a Halloween magazine and I found this curious picture. The sugar cookies are decorated with pieces of the same shape. Some of the cookies with circles and others with triangles. They are placed next to each other, but separated, to create face. This simple design is using Gestalt principles, such as: proximity and closure.

I basically used the same Gestalt principles to create this picture. The whole picture is made by placing the same shape (squares) next to each other but separated. Your brain will easily want to put together the separate pictures to construct the whole meaning of it. I took this picture in the Tulip Festival a while ago and then cut it to create some sort of an artistic mosaic using proximity and closure.
