This first picture implements asymetrical balance in that the subject in the foreground is out of focus. The viewer is then naturally drawn to the subject in the background. The sharpness of the subject in the background in combination with the back lighting and objects on the walls are enough to balance the subject in the foreground.
I almost used this image for my example of bilateral symmetry, but as I looked at the image I felt it fulfilled the criteria of radial symmetry. The linear elements of the image meet at a central axis. While not perfectly symmetrical, the major components of the wall, railing, ceiling and floor all mirror each other.
Bilateral symmetry. 'Nough said.
