This was taken from the building where I work. It is an obvious example of
radial symmetry.
A driveway of a home in Alpine. This is an example of
asymmetrical balance. Asymmetrical balance often works well when there is a flow that leads the eye from one end of the image to another. The winding cobblestone path creates the flow. The vertical clump of tree trunks on the left are balanced by the green leaves of the smaller trees on the right that stretch over in a more horizontal way.
This photo was taken at the Alpine Cemetery. I used the
rule of thirds in the placement of the sculpture. Also, there is
depth in this photo. The sprinkler is slightly blurred which helps the eye know it is quite a bit closer than the sculpture.
