A hug: something so simple. Most of us don't even think twice when we hug our family members and friends. But a hug can mean so much more than just hello or goodbye. With just a glance it's easy to tell that this photograph is full of emotion. A young man hugging his mother in the airport. What is it about this particular hug, makes us not want to look away?
This embrace between son and mother makes one think about how long it's been since they've seen each other. It also makes you wonder why he was gone in the first place and what he was doing while he was away. Years could have gone by, with little communication between the two. The mother looks proud of her son and his happy for his safe return, She must have missed him more than anything, but she knew he was doing something good. As I look at this picture, it makes me think of all the times I've seen family members greet each other at the airport. Some have been gone for weeks, moths, and even years. The airport can be a place of sadness as you see friends and family depart for something greater. And it can be a place of great joy when they return. This photo, this hug, is embedded with love, joy, and gratitude.
