Gestalt Theory

I have three Gestalt principles within this image. I am not sure if it is hard to tell, but the figure of shapes comes together to form a wolf that is howling at the moon.

The first principle is closure. None of the shapes are connected or make one complete shape. There are spaces in between, but the mind automatically fills the space and you see the wolf.

The second principle is proximity. As the shapes are grouped close together, the mind perceives it as one shape or the wolf. With the wolf being positioned away from the circle (or the moon), the mind knows that there are two separate figures, the wolf and the moon.

The third principle is continuation. There are two different ones. First, the shapes within the wolf stack on each other and the mind perceives a line that leads them up the wolf. Second, the gradient behind the image takes the viewers eyes from the wolf up to the moon. While is is not a line, movement is still happening and forces the eye to move in a direction.
