Semiotics 1



1. The signifier is a brass bull statue. The bull has horns and appears to be in motion. Although the statue is obviously motionless, it looks as though the bull is angry and about to fight someone or something. 2. I think that this bull statue signifies business and making tough decisions and especially strength in the business world. Its form shows the attitude and fierceness of the bull. The location of this statue is important in analyzing its meaning and significance. This statue is located in NYC near Wall Street. Because of this location, the statue has new meaning. For example, if this statue was located in Logan Utah, you would automatically assume that this statue was an "Aggie" (the mascot for Utah State)
