Color Assignment #1 - Zoller

When I found this monochromatic color scheme of blue-ish hues, I instantly thought of Manitowoc, Wisconsin: my hometown from 2000-2012. My parents have moved around the Midwest since then, but to me, this is the closest thing to home in the sense of a familiar place.

Manitowoc, population 40,000, is known state-wide for its S.S. Badger (a ferry that takes you across Lake Michigan to, well, the state of Michigan) and a Maritime Museum featuring a WWII submarine you can take a tour of. Water and the city of Manitowoc are synonymous given our location on the beaches of one of the Great Lakes.

Blue is also connotated with a sense of quiet, calming laziness: characteristics which very much describe a city where most citizens are at least over 40, mom-and-pop restaurants abound, and most people are content with driving 30 minutes north to Green Bay if they want to shop at somewhere other than Walmart, Shopko, or Kohl's. A typical Manitowoc resident has lived there his whole life along with his relatives just on the other side of town; he got a job at one of the numerous manufacturing factories straightaway after graduating from Lincoln High School; he goes to church on Sunday morning and the bar on Sunday afternoon to watch Packers football. Life is stable, and life is good.
