Subject/Background: The subject of this photo is the Brigham Young statue in front of the ASB. It stands out as the subject by centering the statue, taking the photo up close, and having its darker tones contrast with the lighter colors of the background, making it prominent in this picture and having no other competing subject,
Balance: My aim here was to create a balance based on the color scheme. On the left hand side the color green is emphasized by the bushes and the trees that line up in the center. On the other half of the picture, the gray tones take control through the color of the sidewalk and the road, balancing the vibrant green on the left side with the dull gray on the right.
Point of View: This is a trash can in one of my art classes in the HFAC. I drew a face on it and called it "the Professor" (original, right?). However, even with its angry "facial" expression, it didn't convey the authoritative aura of a professor. By using a worm's eye point of view and having to look up at it, it transforms from a caricature of a trash can to a presence of power.
