I used the Gestalt principles of proximity and continuation. I was just messing around in Photoshop and I thought it would be cool to form the shape of lips out of lines, but then I had a hard time getting it to look right, so I decided to go for a heart of of lips. Your eye naturally immediately recognizes the shape of the heart even though it is made up of individual lips. Its not till you look closer that you see the individual lip marks.
This is really cool! Kissing Kate Barlow would be proud.
