Creating with Vision and Little Resource
Creating something plain into something interesting was the motive for my decision to learn how to do Origami. The art of folding paper and and turning it into beautiful sculptures started hundreds of years ago and today is known by millions.
In my quest to do something creative and choosing Origami to do so I've learned two important lessons that can be applied in our lives. The first lesson I learned is that everything in our lives is about vision. For centuries, paper was used as something to keep record of things, but one day a Japanese with vision saw beautiful sculptures coming out of paper. I relate that to the trials we go through in life. Trials may be seen by many as a curse but for those with vision, trials become an opportunity to become better.
The second lesson I learned through this creative exercise was that we do not need many resources to create something beautiful. Just like paper is cheap and can be turned into something unique, we can use the simple resources we have around us to make something of value. Our body for example and the blessing to make choices is a resource given to all but unfortunately many choose not to create beautiful things with what they are given.
My Origami today is sitting right by my phone office at work. Each time I look at it, I see it as more than tiny sculptures, I see it as a reminder to always have (1) vision and to use the (2) resources I have available around me as best as I can.
