Like I'm sure a lot of people in the class felt when given this assignment, I felt wholly inadequate. I enjoy doing creative things, but I never saw myself as a creative person. Well this seemed like just the assignment to change that! I've always loved nature, and the thought dawned on me to create something with nature. My Mom has always created interesting flower designs with dried flowers, and I just always thought that would never be something I could do. I just was not creative enough. However, there is no better time to change than the present. In order to get the flowers I needed to create my flower box, I went on a hike up in the mountains, collecting every different kind of wildflower I could find. Then I went home and waited for them to dry, which was not the most exciting thing in the world. however once they were ready that's where I felt my creativity really spark. I had all of these beautiful wildflowers and at first I had no idea how to arrange them or even just where to start at all. After staring at them for a while I felt inspired by their natural beauty and the thought of a more nontraditional wedding bouquet, and once I turned on some music I couldn't stop until it was completely finished. I really enjoy the finished result, and was surprised with what I was able to create when I combined a few of my interests and did something new.
