Women's Hairstyles: BYU vs. Celebrities

For this assignment, I thought it would be interesting to compare women's hairstyles on BYU campus to women's hairstyles that are popular among celebrities.
First of all, I had to research what hairstyles were popular among celebrities.  Here are a couple of the websites I looked at to get an idea of this concept:
Then I took 57 pictures of random girls on campus and compared them to the celebrities I had researched.  Here are five popular looks that I saw:

Long, wavy curls, like Mila Kunis.

Short, cropped cut, like Anne Hathaway.

High bun, like Jessica Alba.

 Natural curls, like Lorde.

Long, soft, and straight, like Gwyneth Paltrow.

These photos tell a number of stories about women at BYU.  They may tell the story that every girl shows a little bit of her personality in her hairstyle.  Some girls want to stand out, and others want to fit in.  The fact that BYU girls' hairstyles emulate hairstyles from celebrities might tell a story about a woman's inherent desire to feel a sense of belonging, or tendency to look to celebrities for an example in fashion, or perhaps even in their actions or personalities.
I wanted to show how hairstyles from BYU girls compare to those of celebrities.  I may have felt like a creeper doing it, but the results I found were quite interesting.
