Semiotics #1

1. The signifier is a charging bull. The bull is made of stainless steel and is very strong. It appears to be charged with energy. The bull is leaning and muscular. It is bronze and placed in the middle of NYC, more specifically NYC's stock exchange.

2. This photo signifies a strong, fearless animal. Maestro Arturo Di Modica sculpture's are known to bring luck, energy, success and prosperity. I love that he dropped off the painting, disobeying city permits. What a statement to make!

3. What is so powerful about this statement is that, this was shortly after the stock market crashed in 89'. It was a very thoughtful piece. I love what it stands for. I love how timely and unexpected it was. I imagine walking to work, discouraged, with my shoulders hanging low and seeing something like that would definitely have an affect on my day.
