provo, provo
I like walking around Provo. Taking to the streets for this assignment wasn't the first time that i've found myself wandering. Usually, though, I have head phones in or i'm on and off my phone - getting somewhere at least. I've lived in Provo for two years now, yet after spending just thirty minutes actually looking, saw so many new things i've never paid attention to before. I truly am so thankful for my sight and can't imagine life without it; but honestly, I might be taking it for granted. I look at things everyday all around me. I look at cars and traffic lights and my school books and cute boys in the library. But how often do I actually see things? How often to I seek new things out? How often do I take a walk and look, really look at my surroundings? Not at my phone or shoes or toward my destination. How often do I find new things that will expand my imagination? How often do I notice the cutest and pinkest porta-potty behind a seemingly mundane parking garage? How often do I walk around and accidentally discover my dream house - white and draped in ivy? How often do I look at a building i've never seen - staring at the broken letters of the sign, filling in the blanks in my mind? I'll be honest, not often enough. The world is busy and loud and i'm always thinking about what I need to do. I need to wake up early for yoga. I need to go to school. I need to read an article before class at 4 pm. This assignment helped me remember how important it is to do things just because - not because you need to. Look at your surroundings. SEE new things. Open your eyes and appreciate the most incredible gift that God has given us. Don't take it for granted. Look for new - see the new. See the good.

I loved this. Your words were truly reflective and inspiring. I think that taking the time to address a little about each photo in your summary made it more personal and I was able to put myself in your shoes as you were taking the photos. I felt like I was really beside you watching you take the photos.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos and great perspective.
