Photography Composition

Balance:

As I took this photo a quote came into my head "a room is never complete until it housing something living" this is an interior design quotes relating to the importance of having balance in a room by adding plants to the design.  In the photo the plants do the same thing, the two small ones in the top right color balance the larger one in the bottom left. The light that consumes the right is balanced by the shadows projected on the left. The main balance I love is the center plant in which is balanced by the light from the outside which creates vibrant bright leaves and the shadows that produce dark rich colored leaves.

                                                                    POV:

As we were playing with play dough I realized that the point of view I see from was drastically different from where my cousin see's from. And his view varies from the way that you might usually capture the photo from. Taking the photo from his level and with only part of his body added an element of story telling to the photo. As you see only his arm you begin to wonder was he in motion, was he paused, why was he leaving. This added a real sense of how a 2 year old would play, rather then a photo taken from my level of him playing.

Subject Background:

The cigarette bud serves as the main subject in this photo. As your eye is immediately drawn to it. With the bud being in the context of the metamorphic rocks it adds and element of depth to the photo and its meaning. It is not a a bud placed in an ash tray or trashcan, the person did not put it their in order to be curious. It was cast out and thrown down with out much concern. Because you can tell this rocks are metamorphic, you can assume that they are related to heat and fire. This ads a metaphorical aspect of the photo, fire the method used to start the cigarette will also be the method used to ultimately destroy it.
