I like the concept. I'd like to see an edit– particularly in the size/shape of the photo; one that fits the blog a bit better.
You can take advantage of vignettes (applying a mask over the photo, painting black and using a burn) to turn our attention to the divide. I presume that's what you wanted to highlight.
