Photojournalism Composition - Shoes and the Story They Tell

For my photojournalism composition assignment, I chose to capture the beauty and uniqueness of high heel shoes. Shoes have always been something I have been passionate about, so I thought it would be fun to take pictures of various types of high heel shoes and show my viewers how captivating these different types of shoes can be!

I really wanted to make sure that every angle of the shoe was captured, therefore I took the pictures and let my three sisters enjoy the fun of trying on hundreds of pairs of shoes. We made a day out of it and went to a handful of stores at City Creek Mall. This would ensure that we would get a variety of shoes for my collection of pictures. Reaching 75 photos was a simple task for us.

These are my favorite, hence the bold black box around the picture :)

Shoes tell a story, and they're telling your story! The more vibrant colored shoes with fun and unique detail represent an exciting and ever-changing life. Closets that only consist of 3 pairs of plain black, low inch heels, demonstrate a more serious and less adventurous lifestyle. You can always change your story by making a few new shoe decisions. It is always  a good idea to switch things up - in life, and in shoes!

My main goal when taking these pictures was to prove that shoes do not have to be plain and boring. A simple rhinestone, strap, buckle, or ribbon on the shoe can take it from bland to beautiful!

Take a look at your shoes and see how they are a metaphor for your life!
