Before I took my photos I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't look at people's faces until AFTER I had taken my photos. I wanted to see what kind of judgments I could make on that person based on their shoes, and see how accurate I could get. In most cases I was pretty close to the truth, and others not so much.
I chose my "best five" for different reasons. Some I chose because they were just really cool photographs. Other I chose because of the use of Gestalt's principles (in some cases I wasn't even trying to).
See if you can guess what kind of person is wearing each shoe.
This was by far my best photograph. I love how they are all the same shoe, but still unique based off of color, size, and design. The two red pairs on the outside really balance each other out and the black pair acts as and anchor for the two.
This is a classic riding boot that is becoming more and more popular on BYU campus and around the country. So I had to add one of these in.
Normally people don't do this with their foot. It's a subconscious action that this person took probably without realizing it. But that's why I love this photograph! The color contrast between the top of the shoe, toe of the shoe, and the brick wall really balance one another out.
This was one of my favorites, not because it's a particularly great photograph, but because it makes sense. These are vans (which are supposed to be a skateboarding shoe) and here this person is skating in the correct shoe.
I chose this shoe because it was the most unique shoe/angle that I captured. From first glance at this glittery shoe you might think this girl is super preppy. But then you notice her boy-ish sock and she doesn't seem that high maintenance anymore. Unlike the photograph above, this one doesn't make as much sense.
