Soccer and Child

This weekend I returned to my hometown in Nevada to visit and while I was there the only real thing that was happening was a soccer and a football game. Since I played soccer I thought I'd take the chance to see how things had changed for my team. I took pictures the entire time. I watched as two teams played each other, pretty poorly and pretty violently. And as the game continued I watched as each team got more and more focused on their goal. Oftentimes players would almost sacrifice themselves in an attempt to score. I'd never thought about it before until I looked at the pictures of injuries and close calls that I had captured.
But through all of this I could tell that my home team was still bonded, kind of like it used to be. We'd spent so much time together and sacrificed so much for each other that even if we didn't get along perfectly, we were always friends. Now 4 years later, my home team still had that.
Not only was the game a good game, but the fans and spectators watching were gracious and kind still. Even the new coach of my old team came to sit and watch the girls varsity team play afterwards just to show support.

The top picture really shows the determination that each player had on their faces. I love this picture because to me it represents everything that you feel on the soccer field and creates the feeling of what playing a sport is like. It is fun, but it also means a lot to everyone on the field.
The second picture was during an injury. With both coaches out on the field and players standing around their teammate.

The third I like because it's just a perfectly timed shot. Just looking at it make you breathe a sigh of relief because you acknowledge the save he just made.

The fourth picture below is about when I mentioned sacrificing themselves for the team. This player was willing to take a shot to the head to try to get the ball in the goal. That could do a lot of damage, permanent damage. But since it's a game sometime we belief that we are invincible. We feel powerful during sports.

And the last picture is my absolute favorite. During the girls varsity game I took a picture of the coaches son in the stands with us. Soccer or any sport can't create the same feeling that this picture does. Even though two teams are fighting it out 5 feet away, it doesn't matter at all to a kid. Greatest picture ever.
