These are two young boys, probably brothers or friends, looking at the playing cards in the checkout isle at Wal-Mart
An elderly couple doing their shopping together.
A mother buying diapers for her little boy.
Four girls, probably sisters, at the checkout stand.
A Wal-Mart cashier. She's probably wondering why I'm taking her picture...
The topic that I chose was Wal-Mart. I wanted to see if there was a particular type of people that shopped there or if my images would be able to tell some kind of story. What I found was that virtually every kind of person could be found at Wal-Mart. A found every age group, from infants to grandparents, and almost every race while I was there. It was interesting to see how different people act while shopping. The young kids were always excited about the world around them and aware of everything. They would be looking at toys or playing with the cart, whatever they could find to entertain themselves. The senior citizens always seemed anxious to engage in conversation with the cashiers. They loved talking to other people about their lives. Most of the other people, from college age to middle aged, seemed to want to get out of there as fast as they could. They didn't want to talk to anyone or look at anything else that might slow them down. They came to get what they needed and they left as soon as they got it. It was definitely an interesting experience being able to just observe the world of Wal-Mart for a while. I had no idea that such patterns existed.
