urgent and important

This piece is very person for me- I created it as a call to action for myself, rather than a general audience. Just like millions of other people, I struggle to keep my priorities balanced correctly. I have an especially strong tendency to just do the day to day tasks of survival, so I chose to capture that with the word "urgent," by making it the main focus, rather than the word "important." I stress about small, unimportant thing too easily, and so I want the type to have a feeling of tension- thus the overlapping. For the colors I wanted something that would pop- so the black and white, but I struggled to find colors that felt urgent and still worked with my overlapping design. I ended up choosing the triadic CMYK scheme in part for their brightness but also for what they represent as a part of the graphic design world. One of my bigger urgent vs important battles is balancing required creativity with creativity for the love of it.
