Perception

20150908_182530.jpg20150908_182801.jpgMy perception is unique, it is morphed, it is affected by every decision, experience, and opinion I have had. The first image is a new restaurant banner called Oregano. The reason I chose this, is because this was the first time I noticed that they changed the Mamacitas sign, since I have been back to Provo.  The reason that impacted me is because I used to work for the restaurant, Mamacitas, as a hostess. Not only that, but the restaurant before Mamacitas, was the Choc'late Mousse, a dessert shop that I managed. I would be in that building  everyday, for almost two years. My perception of this new restaurant is affected by my past, and for the first time I'm on the other side seeing a new business that I'm not a part of, occupy that space for the first time.

The second image is a statue that can be found right in the beginning of downtown Provo. I had no idea that Provo exhibited art to enjoy at as you walk down Center Street! I love finding new things, especially when hidden in plain sight, they have a sort of mystery to them because my brain finally registered the image in my mind. That will change the way I see the statue.

20150908_182847.jpgThe third image of the recycling bin, that I have never really noticed, but probably used many times. You never really look at trash cans, or observe them in much detail, but this one was unique because I love the environment. So the fact that Provo cares enough to place these bins around town, gives these bins a special meaning to me, as we try to protect our Earthly home.

I never noticed this tree in Provo has Christmas lights wrapped around it. I thought this captured what perception means to me, because during the day these lights may not appear aesthetically pleasing, or you may not even notice them; but at night, or as your perception changes you see beautiful white lights playing off nature.

This is complimented by the fact that near this tree lies the Provo
temple, the last image, which I have only known in its construction
stage.  However, it wasn't until I actually looked at the accomplished building, and saw what it has become that I realized the building itself is complete.  My view of this temple will always be unique, because I knew its history, and followed its journey to becoming  completed.  That will always impact my feelings toward this temple, in how truly unique it is. It too symbolizes completeness, and eternity, which impact me strongly as well.
