Perception and Discovery

On my discovery walk I found it refreshing to have the allotted time to truly consider and explore my surroundings. I drive through downtown Provo daily, but I found buildings, trees, graffiti, and stores that I’ve never noticed. I discovered that there is advertising on the ground in various places—this was surprising considering it was close to the Provo City Center Temple. I noticed that there is a considerable amount of Peruvian restaurants and the majority of them are quite authentic. I also found historic stores that have been in Provo for decades—these are stores that I know nothing about, but that have an extensive background. What I enjoyed the most was recognizing all of the landscaping and the extensive work that is done to preserve the environment around us. Such preservation elevates my perception of downtown Provo and of my outlook on the town as a whole.
