Opening My Eyes to Provo - Gaining Perspective

Having lived in Provo a number of years I assumed I had seen everything there is to see. While doing this assignment however, I found that I had missed many hidden treasures that Provo has to offer. Roaming down center street, I found a number of works of art, new stores, murals, sculptures, and even an abandoned movie theater that I never knew existed. After living in Provo so long, how could I have missed this? The key was perspective. I didn't see them because I wasn't looking for them. I was absorbed in other things and it turn, what was right in front of my face became invisible. The common passerby may have missed them too. Look at the old abandoned theater for example.
This sits on a busy road but because of all of the stores and excitement bustling about, no one takes notice. Another such example is this beautiful mural painted on the side of a store. I let many minutes pass by while examining it, but I was alone. Many just rushed by.
There were many other things that I discovered, and I really enjoyed this time to look for new things and open my eyes to the world around me.
