gestalt- Monroe

The two Gestalt theories I am demonstrating in this piece are continuation and proximity. Continuation because your eye naturally fills in the empty space between the photograph's rectangles that partially show Marilyn Monroe's face. The mind fills in the empty space to make the broken picture whole for the viewer. Proximity is also demonstrated because we naturally assume that because the horizontal rectangles are close together, they belong together. Likewise, the random pieces of letters on the right look like they belong together because they are clumped with their corresponding letters.

  1. I think you could have used proximity even more here to stretch the concept.
