Here Comes The Sun

Using Adobe Photoshop I used the gestalt principles of closure and figure/ground to create an effective message. In the typography I used the gestalt principle of closure. If you look at each individual letter there are missing gaps and spaces that should be filled in but are not. Our brains automatically fill in these spaces in order to read the message. I also used the gestalt principle of figure/ground. Our eye's tendency to separate objects from their backgrounds enables the  filled in black circle to appear as if it is blocking what would appear to be the sun--it gives the impression that it is none other than a solar eclipse. My message uses the symbolism of the solar eclipse as a metaphor for difficult times in life. There are times where we experience obstacles that seem to block our light or happiness, but just like a solar eclipse the darkness will eventually pass to let the sun shine through.

  1. This is pretty cool. It was a really cool way to talk about the sun while using only black and white. Clever. I want the Beatles back.
