Gestalt Principles

I found this all over campus and immediately could see the Gestalt Principles at work!

This is an example of continuation, and similarity. The arrows make the viewers’ eye go on to the next shape, and then on to the next. I also feel there is an element of closure; the eye sees the arrows forming a triangle even though it is not a continuous shape. Similarity is seen in the similar shape and color of the arrows, as well as the fact that even though the arrows are somewhat folded over themselves, the eye allows us to perceive the arrows as a whole shape.

I created this to show a few examples of Gestalt Theory.

This shows closure, in the lines around the words Truth and Hope, a circle is created with the mind even though there are gaps in the shape. This also shows continuity with the lines around the word And, drawing the eye upwards and down at the same time. This also shows similarity in Truth and Hope and how they are incredibly similar in shape and size, and therefore the eye groups them together.
