Our Tendency to be Stereotypical

Like many minority groups gays suffer from a stereotype. Most people relate pink, unicorns, glitter, loud conversations, and perverted attitudes to the men and women who are gay. In the previous class about perception I was able to ponder about how quick we are to prejudge someone because of their looks, culture or the way they dressed. The truth of the matter is, we must be open minded and realize that not all gays are flamboyant, not all Asians are smart and not everyone from Africa or Brazil live in the jungle and are poor. Creative minds must have an open mind in order to come up with great ideas. These pictures are examples of gays and support the idea that they are not in that stereotypical group the majority of us likes to place them.

  1. I agree, I have had many people here at BYU jump to conclusions about me because I dress slightly darker and have dark make-up, but that does not mean I am not a God-fearing person just like they hopefully are.
