Gestalt design assignment

Gestalt theories seen "in real life"...

My Gestalt design....

The first picture is an image I took of Gestalt designs "in the real world."  It was a pattern on one of my sweaters that I noticed had some Gestalt theory patterns.  The theories I saw in my sweater was first continuation as well as similarity.  The strip of arrows makes your eye continue the pattern and see it as a continuous line, and there are similarities all through out the patterns on the sweater.

I made this design that illustrates closure and similarity.  I made a star out of stars which has similarities in shapes but there are different stars within the design.  It consists of five point stars and six point stars, all of which are different sizes but the eye sometimes has to take a minute to distinguish them.  The outline of the star is made of five point stars to help differentiate the outline of the star without drawing direct lines to show the obvious image of a star, the mind automatically connects the stars together to see the overall image of the star outline even without the physical lines drawn to connect them-- as Gestalts theory suggests.  It's interesting how our mind draws images from experience and memory and easily connects things and perceives images in a certain way when they may see it differently within a few seconds.
