Gestalt Theory Assignment

On my Aloha Friday night, I went to Denny's with my friends after our ward's early Halloween party. When we were waiting for our dishes to come, I was looking around to see if I could find anything for my gestalt theory assignment. And I found this.

I asked my friends if they found anything interesting in this ad, they looked through this carefully and told me that they could see the faces of the apple core but they wouldn't discover anything special if I didn't ask them to have a look of this ad. Apparently, this is a figure ground example in gestalt theory. If we look at the apple core carefully, we can identify that two faces easily.

For my design, I picked a picture which was taken in the Halloween party that I had my costume on. I used a camera application on my phone to make this design which is a closure and proximity. Although there is something missing in this image, we tend to fill in the blanks of an object. So I bet everyone of you could tell what did I dress up as in the party. Besides, even though I divided the image into several parts, we still perceive this image as a whole.
